Toledo, Route 66 A Year Later ...

Toledo, Route 66 A Year Later ...

It was only a year ago when Toledo made national media coverage for the well publicized shooting at Westwood’s very own Route 66 kitchen bar and grill.
A shooting incident that shock most locals including myself, because as a late night bar patron myself, I would never anticipate that a shooting may occur while I’m still sipping on my henny and coke at the bar.

But against all logic not only did we hear about it, we got to witness it over and over and over again on youtube, and now that it has been a year and some change since that fateful night, I am wondering to myself, what strides have these local pubs, bars, and night club taken to assure that gun fire won’t happen in their establishment?

Because if I was to use the shooting incident that just occurred last week at Steve’s Bar as an example that these bars, pubs, and other late night location are not doing enough to ensure peoples safety at their places, I think I would have a pretty solid case.

No one should have to worry about their safety while enjoying their night out, granted people are responsible and should be accountable for their actions if they are the instigator, but that seems not to be the case here. People are getting shot at while sitting down, beat up and force to drink transmission fluid, killed upon opening their car doors, and so on and so forth, and why in the world are their places not accountable for their actions?

I think these late night establishments need to beef up security, and take more of an interest in their guest personal well being while at their spot, or be force to close down. Last year after that shooting incident occurred I came home in December to celebrate my little brother’s birthday with him, and while strolling through town we went to several bars, and to no surprise of my own I not only witness it but was applaud by it, one of my little brother’s friends walk into several establishments with his gun attached on him!
