Never Judge A Book By Its Cover! Pt.2
(Wisdom bestowed upon us from the motion picture “For Color Girls”)

Written By: Jayi Kemp

If you have yet to see the movie well then I strongly encourage you to do so, this film should become a rite of passage for young women to experience as they embrace adulthood, this movie was by no means easy to sit through, but I am sure anyone who experiences this movie will be bestowed wisdom about our world are youth so desperately need.

Yasmine & Rapist
In this blog I want to discuss Yasmine, Yasmine was a delightful person who had such vigor for life, she was full of innocents left unscathed to the world in which she lived in, that is, until she meet a charming gentlemen who had a boyish grin and school boy appearance who just so had appeared to be as full of life as she was.

They look like the perfect couple to me, young, black, and beautiful, I almost thought to myself as I watch the movie “at least Tyler is going to have one good example of what a black man could be in the movie”, and boy was I fooled.

What Tyler revealed to me was an unknown truth to myself, rapist cannot be stereotype! Sure I am at fault like so many others, most of us view people of threat as drug users, black hooded men, and weirdo’s, but not this guy, this rapist was dress to impress, sharp, clean, and look like he had money. There is no way I believe Yasmine had any indication that she was in the company of a man who was looking to prey on her, which brings me to this!

Food 4 Thought:

When courting someone take it easy, do not rush in by any means, take everything gradually and slowly. Learn something more about that man then just his first name and shoe size, double date, do group outings, make him work for the invite to your home, do whatever you need to do, just be sure of who you are dealing with, because you never truly know what that mans ambition really are right off back, and in Yasmine case, looks were deceiving, so I advise all ladies to NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!!
